Gel Strips
General information
These are semi-cured gel strips, similar to UV nail polish, which are simply applied to the nail. The gel strips are 60% cured, which is why they mould perfectly to the natural nail before they are fully cured.
Justified question! We have intensively studied the various methods on the market and the individual needs of our customers. Our aim is to make all manicure lovers happy and offer everyone the perfect system to suit their needs. As the UV LED lamp is a standard feature of many popular systems, we have decided to expand our range accordingly in order to offer the best selection! So you can choose your favorite method that suits you perfectly - with or without a UV lamp.
Each box contains a carrier foil with a total of 20 gel strips in 9 different widths.
- 20 gel strips packed in a protective cover
- 1 rosewood sticks
- 2 cleansing wipes
- 1 instruction card with QR code for video instructions
All 20 gel strips are 34mm long, but differ in width. We offer 9 different widths.
Please note: The gel strip is exactly as wide in the centre (and not at the base of the nail) as shown in this picture. Our sizes have been tested on various natural nail sizes and the shape has been developed accordingly. This means that we can offer many customers the right gel strips.
The cleaning cloth is soaked in alcohol, which helps to remove any oil residue from the nails.
No, our rosewood sticks are not available individually in the shop.
No need to worry! Our gel strips contain neither HEMA nor DI-HEMA and are therefore suitable for allergy sufferers.
The gel strips are best stored in the protective sleeve and cardboard packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent them from hardening prematurely.
The gel strips cure not only in the UV LED lamp, but also when exposed to natural UV light (sunlight or even just normal daylight). However, they should only be cured after they have been glued to the nail and filed into shape, as otherwise their durability will suffer. We therefore recommend additionally covering the gel strips with the protective cover between each application step to protect them from natural UV light.
It depends on where they have been placed and how much UV light they have been exposed to.If they have been in daylight or in a sunny place for a long time, the gel strips may well have already started to harden due to the natural UV light. This can severely impair their durability, as they can then no longer adhere well to the natural nail. In this case, we recommend using a new pack of gel strips.
We are normally only exposed to UV light, which is generated by UV LED lamps, for short periods of time and at low intensity. Nevertheless, it is generally recognised that UV light is not healthy for the body. To maximise protection during application, special gloves can be worn with only the fingertips exposed or a sunscreen with UVA/UVB spectrum can be applied around 20 minutes before the manicure. However, avoid the nails so as not to impair the durability of the gel strips. Everyone should be aware of the possible risks and can decide for themselves whether this manicure method is the right choice.
Unfortunately not. Even if the gel strips harden under the UV LED lamp, they do not offer the same stability as our fake tips and are therefore not suitable for extending natural nails.
We generally do not recommend manicure products for children.
Application
Important beforehand: Apply the product away from sunlight, as the natural UV light can cause the gel strips to harden prematurely. We recommend covering the gel strips with the protective cover between each application step to protect them from natural UV light.
STEP 1 - Prepare natural nail with buffer & rosewood sticks
STEP 2 - Clean the natural nail with a cleaning cloth
STEP 3 - Select size
- Hold the gel strips over the nail and select the right size.
STEP 4 - Apply the gel strip
STEP 5 - Shorten the gel strip
- Cut off the protruding gel strip close to the tip of the nail.
STEP 6 - Curing the gel strip with a UV LED lamp
- Cure for 2 x 60 seconds under the UV LED lamp.
Occasionally turn the nails to the right and left to optimise curing of the nail edges.
STEP 7 - File the gel strips into shape
- It is best to always file in one direction - from the sides to the centre of the nail.
→ OPTIONAL for maximum shine & durability
STEP 08 - Apply UV top coat
Apply UV Top Coat with slow brush strokes and coat the tip of the nail well.
Important: Only apply a thin layer of UV top coat so that it does not run into the edges. Coat the thumb separately and cure directly.
STEP 09 - Curing the UV Top Coat
Place the index, middle, ring and little finger in the centre under the UV LED lamp again and cure for 2 x 60 seconds. Carefully cure the nail edges too. To do this, occasionally turn the nails to the left and right under the UV LED lamp. Cure the thumb separately. The UV LED lamp switches off automatically after 60 seconds. After curing, the tip of the nail can be re-filed.
Up to 3 weeks.
Yes, the UV Top Coat is also cured for 2 x 60 seconds. It is important to only apply a thin layer so that the UV Top Coat does not run into the edges.
No! Our gel strip box only contains the gel strips, a rosewood stick and two cleaning cloths. A UV lamp is absolutely necessary for the application. The Doonails scissors and the 2in1 file & buffer are also required for optimum application.
The Doonails scissors are used to cut off the gel strips at the tip of the nail.
The 2in1 file & buffer is necessary for filing natural nails, roughening the nail surface, filing off gel strips and possibly for removal.
If you already have a suitable UV lamp and suitable accessories at home, then all you need for the application is the gel strip box.
It is super important to press the gel strips firmly onto the natural nail so that there are no air bubbles underneath. To do this, stick the gel strip onto the nail and press firmly from the centre outwards. It is important not to stick the gel strip onto the cuticle or over the edges of the nail. Gently press the edges with the rosewood stick. If you press too hard with the rosewood stick, you run the risk of pressing dents into the not yet fully hardened gel strip.
No, the gel strips can only be used once.
It is important that the nail plate is thoroughly cleaned with the alcohol-soaked cleaning cloth after buffing and before applying the gel strips to remove any greasy residue from the nail. Only then can the gel strips adhere optimally.
Yes, after the gel strips have hardened, you can care for your cuticles as usual.
Yes, our gel strips are longer than most on the market and are therefore also suitable for particularly long natural nails. But they can also be used on short natural nails without any problems. Due to their extra length, one gel strip is even sufficient for 2 applications.
Yes, filing after curing can be more comfortable, especially with very short natural nails.
With the full cover tips this is absolutely no problem, with the half cover tips you might be able to see the transition from tip to natural nail under the gel strip. Here you should make sure to file this transition as smoothly as possible.
This is completely normal for gel products. If the burning sensation persists after application, it could indicate an irritation or allergic reaction and the application should be discontinued.

STEP 01 - Apply remover oil
Apply Doonails Remover Oil to the nail edges and massage in well. Use the enclosed rosewood stick to loosen the gel strips at the edges.
STEP 02 - Oil bath
Pour warm water, 1-2 pipettes of remover oil & 2 pumps of soap into a bowl. Soak nails for 10 minutes. During this time, repeatedly rub the rosewood stick under the gel strips.
STEP 03 - Remove gel strips
Carefully lift and remove the gel strips with the rosewood stick. If necessary, soak again in the oil bath for a few minutes.
STEP 04 - Remove adhesive residue
Gently remove the adhesive residue with the buffer. tip: Soak a cotton wool ball in Doonails remover liquid and remove the adhesive residue effortlessly.
STEP 05 - Nail care
Care for natural nails and cuticles with Doonails nail oil.
Yes, you can remove your gel strips at any time using our removal method. If you have only worn them for a short time and they are therefore still stuck to your natural nails, you can simply add more oil and, if necessary, a little Doonails remover liquid to the oil bath and leave them to soak for longer. Keep using the rosewood stick to lift, loosen and remove the gel strips.
Soap acts as an emulsifier and ensures that water and oil mix well together.
Washing-up liquid has the same effect as soap: it acts as an emulsifier and ensures that water and oil mix well together.Just be careful not to use aggressive agents, otherwise the nourishing effect of the oil bath will be lost.
To remove the gel strips, they must be actively loosened and lifted with a rosewood stick. As this is not the case when showering and washing hands, durability can also be optimally guaranteed here.
If there are still adhesive residues on the nail after removing the gel strips, you can easily remove them with the buffer or with cotton wool soaked in Doonails remover liquid.
No, our recommended oil bath removal is not a ‘soak off’ removal method (as known from typical UV varnish manicures or dipping manicures), which is why it is not necessary to file off the UV top coat. With the oil bath method, the gel strips are lifted and removed together with the top coat.
Yes, you can also remove the gel strips with Doonails Remover Oil alone. Apply a generous amount of Doonails Remover Oil to the nails and nail edges and repeatedly brush under the gel strips with the rosewood stick. Dip the rosewood stick into the remover oil again and again. However, the oil bath is the gentler and more gentle removal method, as it avoids injury to the natural nail, which can occur when the gel strips are pulled off.
Colours/Shapes/Sizes
We want to offer the perfect length and fit for as many natural nails as possible, which is why we have also produced our gel strips in extra length. This means we can guarantee that the gel strips are suitable for both very long and short natural nails. For short natural nails, the gel strip can even be split in the middle so that it is sufficient for a second application.
Naturally! We will continue to expand our range of gel strips with more great colours and designs.
In general, a French design usually looks very good and natural if the white French line is quite thin.If you have a rather long nail or a long nail plate in general, the gel strip may not sit perfectly on your nail and the French line may be slightly thicker. We therefore recommend keeping your nails rather short for this. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to create French designs with gel strips, which is why they do not create the same look on all nail lengths.
It is particularly difficult to achieve optimum colour coverage with red tones. With a white base colour, we guarantee that the colour of the gel strips is really opaque on the natural nail. But don't worry, the white colour won't show through.
For short nails, one gel strip can be used for 2 applications. The ‘Baby Boomer’ and ‘Classic French’ designs have therefore been produced in such a way that they can be divided in the centre and therefore used from both sides. On the packaging, however, we want to show how the design looks finished on the nail.
